Pledge your support, Help Firefox create a record.

Posted in internet with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 31, 2008 by urdamned

Been a fan of Mozilla Firefox since the day I started using it. Just fell in love with the features and the best part is I am still in love šŸ˜›

Now about the record attempt, the guys back at Mozilla, along with the much anticipated release of Firefox 3, also want to set a Guiness Record of the ā€œmost downloaded software in 24 hoursā€. With a dedicated fan base spread across continents, I don’t see this not happening, they should easily be able to beat the current record.

Just to make sure that you remember to download your favourite browser the day it is officially released, the folks back at Mozilla have created a pledge page on Spread Firefox site. Make sure you go there, pledge your support so that you can be reminded about being a part of that record.
Download Day
Don’t be evil! At least this time around. Go get firefox.

Place: Bangalore, India

The guy in the picture is one of the many porters who crowd the bus stops or railways stations in India. One strong guy I should say, the bike weighs in excess of 150 Kgs(330lbs). The irony is that for all the hardwork he would probably get less than $2 for this. Sure you wont see this in the US. Definitely not so cheap. No wonder everything is being outsourced šŸ˜›

Hello…… Belated New year wishes to all.

Its a new year and we have started posting late but will surely make up for it with some really good posts.

Found this really funny football pic. You must have seen the “hand of god” but am sure you would never have seen this “hand of satan” himself. šŸ˜› enjoy

Satan orĀ god

Seen a longer hand than this? Seems to be longer than “kanoon ke haath” in the bollywood movies.

Funny CAPTCHA

Posted in Evil, facebook, funny, hilarious, internet, Laugh, US with tags , , , , , , , on December 28, 2007 by urdamned

Your first question would be what the hell is CAPTCHA or CHACHACHA or whatever it is???

A CAPTCHA (IPA: /’kƦpt??/) is a type of challenge-response test used in computing to determine whether the user is human. “CAPTCHA” is a contrived acronym for “Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”, trademarked by Carnegie Mellon University. The process involves one computer (a server) asking a user to complete a simple test which the computer is able to generate and grade, but not able to solve on its own. Because computers are unable to solve the CAPTCHA, any user entering a correct solution is presumed to be human.

The term CAPTCHA was coined in 2000 by Luis von Ahn, Manuel Blum, Nicholas J. Hopper (all of Carnegie Mellon University), and John Langford (then of IBM). A common type of CAPTCHA requires that the user type the letters of a distorted image, sometimes with the addition of an obscured sequence of letters or digits that appears on the screen.

Ok, now coming to the real point. You may have seen lots and lots of CAPTCHA images but I am pretty sure you would never have seen such a funny one. Check this one from facebook:

Shoe fetish anyone?? ShoeTube is here

Posted in comedy, EL original, Evil, funny, hilarious, internet, Laugh, original with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on December 27, 2007 by urdamned

Youtube was a great idea, streaming music and videos online. Then came many other startups that had a concept similar to Youtube, but tweaked a little bit here and there. But how about a website that would stream loads of stuff about Shoes. Yes, you read it right, Shoes!!Ā  There is this new startup called ShoeTube which is actually going to do that. They are going to stream stuff on shoes. Only shoes, nothing else.

shoetube.jpg

This is what they say on their site about the amazing concept that shoetube is:

Get ready for the most exciting thing to happen to shoes since Carrie found those coveted Manolo Blahniks in the closet at Vogue. Shoetube.tv will be the destination on the web where women will gather to share their passion for shoes.

We’ll feature a mix of broadcast-quality programming, user-generated videos/photos, and sponsor-created content. You’ll also find articles on what’s going on in the footwear industry, professionally-penned blogs and tons of community features that give every woman who is crazy about shoes a place to express their inner “soles.”

Shoetube.tv will be a bustling community by and for shoe fanatics! Are you ready to Shoetube?

Now that is what you call a crazy idea. Crazy because, the whole idea of ShoeTube seems wierd to me. Can you imagine, shoetube????? What next?? SockTube??

And by the way they are launching February 2008.

Shoe fetish anyone???

The most expensive part of the Google Homepage

Posted in Evil, google, homepage, internet with tags , , , , on November 23, 2007 by urdamned

This is a really evil thing that the guys in “Dont be evil” foundation are doing to themselves. Yeah you guessed it right we are talking about none other than Google. Google cofounder Sergey Brin told public radio’s Marketplace that around one percent of all Google searches go through the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button.

ju

Wondering what is so evil about it and whats the big deal???

Because of this buttonĀ  the user is directly taken to the top search result, i,e Google doesn’t get to show search ads on one percent of all its searches. That costs the company around $110 million in annual revenue, according to Rapt’s Tom Chavez.

So why does Google keep such a costly button around?

“It’s possible to become too dry, too corporate, too much about making money. I think what’s delightful about ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ is that it reminds you there are real people here,” Google exec Marissa Mayer explained, or at least tried to.

Interesting isnt it??? Probably its the lesser evil philosophy they are following these days, just like the lesser evil thing they did in China. Good atleast they are doing it to themselves… šŸ˜›

Couple Get Wedding Photos After 27 Years ?? OMG

Posted in Evil, marriage with tags , on October 24, 2007 by urdamned

Are you irritated and angry that your mail is delivered late to you?? Just imagine it was your wedding photos that were delivered late…that too by 27 years. Read this story and you will know:

MANSFIELD, Ohio (AP) – A couple won’t mark their 27th anniversary until Thursday, but they’ve already received the perfect gift: the wedding pictures they couldn’t afford when they married as teenagers. Their photographer showed up last week at the diner where Karen Cline works and surprised her with a photo album from her big day in 1980.

“About a month ago, I was just cleaning out some of my old things and I found it,” said photographer Jim Wagner, who’s now 80. “I knew she didn’t have any money back then, and I just thought she might like to have it.”

“I just stood there and cried and cried and hugged him,” Cline said afterward, tearing up again.

She recalled being a new bride at 18 and admiring the pictures, but feeling heartsick because she and her husband, Mark, who was 19 at the time, didn’t have $150 to pay for them.

All these years, the Clines have had just one wedding picture that someone else took, of her walking down the aisle.

Wagner said he was able to track down Karen Cline after running into her stepfather a few weeks ago.

When the photographer showed up in the diner, she wrote him a check for the long-awaited $150 – and that’s when he cried, she said.
